BLACK LIVES MATTER
Why has this phrase "Black lives matter" touched the mind and spirit of people around the world?
Is it because dark-skinned people are shot by police more often than white-skinned people? Possibly.
Is it because the police fear for their own lives? Possibly.
Is it because police forces have racist officers? Possibly.
Is it because the victims of police shootings are known dangerous criminals by the police? Possibly.
Is it because generations of racism have been perpetuated even to the present day and age? Most certainly.
Is racism only targetting people of colour? No.
Is racism exclusively based on skin colour? No.
In TRUTH, shouldn't our perspective be corrected to "ALL LIVES MATTER"? Yes.
For Canadians and others of a Judeo-Christian heritage, due to our failure to seek the wisdom hidden within our heritage as revealed in the Bible, we feel shame for the racist sins of our forefathers. We have perpetuated class distinctions, social inequality, religious bigotry and racial prejudices. Also, we all fail to address our common weaknesses in overcoming our sinful natures.
Our Bible teaches us we will never overcome these weaknesses on our own. To make "Black lives matter" or "All lives matter", we must seek our spiritual connection with God. This will enable us to fight and overcome our carnal temptations, cravings and addictions. It will also fill us with God's love for all humanity.
With God's LOVE flowing through us we will be able to:
"Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you." (Colossians 3:13)
Every individual needs this kind of wisdom to understand how to overcome and stop the evil causes of our strife throughout our country and all nations. Mass protests filled with animosity towards other groups, or government officials, will not take us one step closer to making our world a better place. Racism, malice, envy, hatred and anger within each one of us must be defeated before we should hope others will be changed.
The thoughts and beliefs of all of us must be wary:
"See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ." (Colossians 2:8)
Close to 70% of Canadians come from a noble Judeo-Christian heritage. This gift from God has been a blessing to Canadians arriving from all over the world from all classes, races and beliefs. Our parents never told us to abandon their beliefs and to not trust in God. In fact, God told them and us to love and welcome all peoples.
Todays' reality is oppression of minorities, special rights for minorities, minority militarism, social protests and social conflict all taking place amidst a global pandemic, which has already killed a million people. Yet, if we choose to, all of this strife can be ended sooner than later.
To find the start of our new beginning, we must come to the end of what went before. As with Covid 19, the solution to "ALL LIVES MATTER" begins with each one of us. Our journey should begin with our learning about God's Biblical spiritual gifts to every single Canadian, regardless of our cultural heritage. By seeking only our own understanding, we will continue to sow hatred and disease throughout our world. By seeking God's wisdom and understanding of our world, we will become equipped to overcome our social strife and disease.
As we open our hearts and minds to HIS infinite LOVE, may God continue to bless every one of us.
